Mud + water ceramics was formed as a collaborative between Lynn and Gaelle and we are working from our home studios on the Cambridgeshire and North Essex border. Our studio assistants are Hector, the working cocker spaniel and Saffie, the miniature poodle, and Luna and Misty the tabby cats.
We love homewares and textiles and music and have decided to create utilitarian stoneware piece which can be used everyday as well as a collection of decorative ceramic items.
Our style is Victorian high tea with a splash of Tim Burton darkness, we gravitate towards rich colours and lots of pattern, florals, foliage, stripes and dots. We love maximalist interiors! Each piece is entirely unique and designs are made in small batches.
We aim to be as sustainable as possible and our energy supplier provides 100% renewable electricity from solar, wind and hydro to power our electric kiln which we never fire unless it is absolutely full.
We reuse all the water we use in our making process in the garden, we recycle our clay scraps to make slip or to reuse to make more pieces.
We are working very hard to keep our packaging as sustainable as we can.
We also aim to reuse all packaging from our suppliers to package our own work. if you order from us, you probably will receive your order in reused packaging.
We were awarded “highly commended” in the sustainable stall award in 2018 and 2019 at the Cambridge Folk Festival.
